Abstract

A study on croping pattern planning based on the result of potency analysis of the length of growinf season has been carried out for the purpose of the setting croping pattern the rice and the dry season crop's (palawija) for kecamatan Tenggarong, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. The study was based on the land water balanced analysis using the Book Keeping method of the normal rainy season calculating the soil water availability and water surplus. Field evaluation was carried out 4 4 months (July-October). Monthley land water balance showed that Kecamatan tenggarong has 8 months of water surplus (December-July and October) resulted the cumulatif rain of 226,6 mm/year, and water deficyt periode for 4 months (July-September and November) resulted the cumulatif of 27,4 mm/year. Optimaly this area has potency of growing season of 11 months or 330 days. By assuming that past and diseases was sucsesfully manage, rice can be planted for 3 season a year, or 2 season of rice followed by one season of dry season crops.
