Abstract

ABSTRACT The composition discusses about the planning of growing pattern for paddy and corn cultivation based on the analized in order to determine land water balanced, considering soil water availability and water surplus with 70% opportunity rainfall and area's growing season potential in Tenggarong regent-Kutai district. Field evaluation was conducted from July through October 2000, Monthly land water balanced indicated that Tenggarong area, there were 7 monthly water surplus (Januari-Mei, October and Oesember), it was 227,8 mm/year, while water deficits occurred during 3 months (July-September), it was 46.1 mm/year Optimally, atas Tenggarong regent, the was growing seasons of 11 month's or 330 days, and with assumtion that danger of pest and pathogen can be overcame, paddy growing can be done 3 times a year and second crops (corn) can be planted once a year.
