Abstract
This research was conducted in the West Kutai Regency, the objectives were to identify changes in forest cover compared the analyze changes in air temperature for 35 years (1980-2015). Analyzes the correlation between the variables of changes in forest cover and air temperature using Pearson analysis. The results of this research revealed forest area tends to decrease 1.488.000 hectare with the average area of 42.514 hectare/year. Annual average air temperature during the period 1980 to 2015 there was an increase 21.2 o C (before period in 1981) became 24,4 o C or average air temperature increase 0,09 o C/year. Results of linear regression analysis between changes in forest cover (Y) and air temperature (X) resulting equation Y = 0.322 X – 0.203 with strong correlation (r) = 0,77. That shows global warming is a necessity to be perceived until within areas of East Kalimantan. Therefore, it necessary to improve the commitment and concrete actions include to press the "land clearing" and otherwise improve forest rehabilitation.
