Abstract

Aglonema is an ornamental plant with beautiful leaves and has high economic value. Several cultivation technique have been tested but have not yet provided effective method to allow large scale for commercial purpose. Tissue culture techniques with addition of organic materials is expected to increase the growth of plant. The purpose of this research was to determine in vitro effect of coconut water on growth of aglaonema. Single shoot + 1 cm were cultured on Murashige-Skoog (MS) medium enriched with coconut water (50 ml/L, 100 ml/L, 150 ml/L, 200 ml/L, 250 ml/L). The result showed that addition of coconut water 100 ml gave the highest plant height and root plant. Coconut water treatment on 150 ml/L concentration gave the best result on leaves, and 250 ml/L on highest shoot.
